ICAR-DRWA Participates in the IITF, 2014

Directorate of Research on Women in Agriculture has participated in the India International Trade Fair (IITF) - 2014 being held from 14th-27th November, 2014 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi under the banners of ICAR as well as DAC, Ministry of Agriculture. The Directorate has displayed a number of women friendly technologies including drudgery reducing tools and implements, models, processes, success stories and knowledge products developed in house as well as under AICRP on Home Science. Protective clothing developed by AICRP scientists to overcome various occupational hazards in agricultural activities such as pesticide application and cotton picking was also on display. A number of Indian and foreign delegates with business, education, research and farming background visited the stalls displaying these materials and got sensitized about on the important role played by women in Indian agriculture and the need for empowering them. A huge demand was witnessed for the literature developed by DRWA. Hon’ble Shri Radha Mohan Singh, Union Minister of Agriculture visited the stall that displayed the activities and technologies on 18th November, 2014. He was appreciating of the efforts made by the Directorate for empowerment of women in agriculture and suggested for upscaling of the women friendly technologies for wider application of new knowledge for the benefit of women.

From DRWA, Dr. S.K. Srivastava, Dr. H.K. Dash and Dr. Ananta Sarkar coordinated the exhibition at the IITF, 2014 while Sh. Sanjay Kumar Behera, Sh. Pragati Kishore Raut, Sh. Subrat Kumar Das and Sh. Atul Chetan Hemrom assisted in successful arrangement and display of items in the fair.
