ICAR-CIWA Organizes Mushroom Demonstration for Farm Women

The multidisciplinary team of ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar organised "Mushroom Demonstration" for farm women from five (Kadua, Talapatna, Chanagouda, Bila Sahi and Behera Sahi) adopted villages under "Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav" programme. The demonstration was attended by 70 farm women. A training-cum-demonstration on Oyster Mushroom cultivation was imparted to the farm women by outreach team led by Dr. Sabita Mishra. Dr. Jatinder Kishtwaria, Director, ICAR-CIWA also graced the occasion and shared her experience with the farm women. She highlighted the nutritional importance of mushroom to reduce malnutrition. She also urged farm women to take mushroom cultivation as an enterprise for sustaining their livelihood. The oyster mushroom spawn, vegetable seeds and seedlings of lemon, banana, drumstick & papaya were also distributed to the farm women. The programme was attended by Dr. S. K. Srivastava, Dr. Jyoti Nayak, Dr. S. Tanuja, Mrs. Geeta Saha, Mr. Atul Chetan Hemrom and Er. Subrat Kumar Das.
