ICAR-CIWA celebrated its Foundation Day on March 5, 2018. During this occasion, a Technology Demonstration Mela and Scientist-Farmer Interface was organized in which 150 farmwomen from Koraput, Cuttack and Puri districts of Odisha had participated. The Hon'ble DDG (Education), ICAR, New Delhi, Dr. Narendra Singh Rathore had graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Vice Chancellor OUAT, Bhubaneswar, Prof. (Dr.) S. Pasupalak was the Guest of Honour while Director ICAR-IIWM, Bhubaneswar, Dr. S. K. Ambast and the representative of Director, ICAR-Central Institute for Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar, Dr. B. R. Pillai were the Special Guests of the occasion. Besides, there were many other Dignitaries from ICAR, SAUs and NGOs who attended this auspicious function. At the outset of this event, the Director of the Institute, Dr. S.K. Srivastava welcomed all the Delegates and highlighted the significant achievements of the Institute. Dr. Narendra Singh Rathore, DDG (Education), ICAR during his Presidential address, signified the important role of CIWA in achieving women empowerment in agriculture and underlined the contribution of farmwomen in sustainability of Indian agriculture. In the Technology Demonstration Mela, the farm women were demonstrated with various women friendly technologies developed and identified by ICAR-CIWA. In addition, there were also 10 exhibition stalls exhibiting the advanced agricultural technologies. During Farmer-Scientist Interface, the queries of farm women were answered by the Expert team of CIWA. Twenty progressive Farm Women in fields of Ginger cultivation, Rice cultivation, Nutrition garden, Poultry rearing, Mushroom cultivation, Groundnut cultivation and Dairy farming from different villages (Raipur, Khandagarh, Dihasahi, Kadua, Talapatna, Routsahi, Beherasahi, Chanaguda, Patangi, Similiguda, Nuagada, Balarampur, Balisahi, Bandhahata, Katakiasahi, Chanharpada, Denuabasta, Denua, Alipingala, Seulasahi) were awarded with certificates and award kits. Awardees of Vigilance Awareness Week, & ICAR-CIWA Personnel were recognized with certificates. The formal vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Sabita Mishra, Nodal Officer Foundation Day.
