National Conference on ''Revisiting Agricultural Research and Monitoring System for Developing Innovations: To Meet Newer Challenges'' organized at ICAR-CIWA

The two-days National Conference on ''Revisiting Agricultural Research and Monitoring System for Developing Innovations: To Meet Newer Challenges'' was jointly organized by the Agricultural Research Service Scientists Forum and ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture at ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar during 24-25 November, 2018. The Conference was inaugurated by Dr. N. S. Rathore, Deputy Director General (Ag. Education), ICAR, New Delhi.

The National Conference was designed to address the gaps that impede the faster dissemination of developed agricultural technologies to the farmers and to suggest the efficient ways for reforming the present agricultural research monitoring system. The main objective of the conference was to reform the agricultural research monitoring system in tune with the problem solving approach at field level and to motivate scientists to evolve farmers' friendly technologies for faster adoption that aid in doubling the farmers' income.

The Conference was organized covering the following five thematic areas;

  1. Strength, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats of present agricultural research monitoring system in India
  2. Farmer centric technologies, success stories and take home points
  3. Balancing high end agricultural science and field oriented farmer centric technologies
  4. Successful indicators for farmers centric agricultural research outputs
  5. Re-organization of agricultural research and monitoring system in mode of farmers centric technology development

Dr. P.K. Agarwal, Assistant Director General (NASF), ICAR, New Delhi delivered the valedictory address during the valedictory session on 26 November, 2018. Dr. S. K. Srivastava, Director, ICAR-CIWA, Dr. Indramani Mishra, President, ARSSF, Dr. S. Manivannan, General Secretary, ARSSF and Dr. P.S. Brahmanand, Vice-President (Eastern Zone), ARSSF coordinated the Conference. Directors from various ICAR Institutions, and about 120 Scientists from different parts of the Country attended the Conference.
