National Productivity Week on the theme "Circular Economy for Productivity and Sustainability" organized at ICAR-CIWA

The ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar organized National Productivity Week from 12 to 18 February, 2019 with the theme "Circular Economy for Productivity and Sustainability". Dr Santanu Mohanty, Dean College of Agriculture Bhawanipatna, OUAT inaugurated the programme as the Chief Guest. Dr B.Sahoo, nodal of the programme welcomed all the dignitaries and participants and briefed about the programme. Dr S.K.Srivastava, Director, ICAR-CIWA highlighted the role of ICAR-CIWA to enhance the productivity of farm women and other stakeholders by establishing linkage with various institutes and the field level functionaries. During the seven days programme, various activities like special talks, discussions, essay, quiz, slogan and painting competitions were organized with active participation of scientists, administrative and supporting staffs to ensure capacity building relevant to productivity concept. The lecture was also organized on "Agro waste recycling vis-s-vis management of nutrients via waste management and agro waste recycling through vermicompost and vermiculture. The inhouse lectures covering various aspects of agriculture and allied fields related to enhancing productivity ensuring sustainability were arranged by the scientists of ICAR-CIWA. A brainstorming session on "Scope of organic agriculture in India" was also organized along with the guest lecture delivered by Dr. Sushanta Kishore Khuntia, Entrepreneur. The National Productivity Week was organized with the aim to create awareness and sensitization amongst the employees of the institute to identify initiatives/actions solicited for inclusive growth and subsequent economic growth in the long term. The purpose was to draw the attention of all concerned, towards the concept of productivity and encourage implementation of productive tools and techniques with relevant themes with the changing time. Propagating productivity, quality, competitiveness and efficiency consciousness were highlighted through seminars, workshops, celebrations of productivity and quality events, discussions and motivational awards among the participants. A comprehensive view of productivity focused on improving economic, environmental and social and adds value for all the stakeholders through generation and application of advanced knowledge for inclusive growth was emphasized by the Director, ICAR-CIWA during his concluding remarks on 18 Feb. Mrs Ankita Sahu, Scientist coordinated the programme of the national productivity week.
