ICAR-CIWA Celebrated 'Parthenium Awareness Week'

ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture (ICAR-CIWA), Bhubaneswar celebrated 14th 'Parthenium Awareness Week' at ICAR-CIWA from 16-22 August, 2019. During this week, uprooting of Parthenium, spraying herbicides, composting of biomass etc. were carried out in ICAR-CIWA campus and also at off campus. The Inaugural Programme of Parthenium Awarenes Week was organized on 16.08.2019 at 11.30 AM in the Conference Hall of ICAR-CIWA. Dr. S. K Srivastava, the Hon'ble Director, ICAR-CIWA graced the occasion as Chief Guest and addressed the gathering about the importance of this week and steps to be taken to maintain our environment Parthenium free. He emphasized all to carryout various on campus and off campus programmes for awareness generation about the harmful effect of Parthenium. The cleaning programme on uprooting of Parthenium in ICAR-CIWA campus was carried out by all the staffs. Apart from these the off campus awareness generation on harmful of Parthenium was also organised at Jeerabadi village, Jagannath Prasad Block of Ganjam district. This week was coordinated by the Nodal Officer Ms Gayatri Moharana with the other team members of CIWA, Mr Manoranjan Prusty, OIC, Farm Section and Er Subrat K. Das & Atul C. Hemrom, Senior Technical Assistant and also with the cooperation of Dr. Biswanath Sahoo, Nodal Officer, Swachh Bharat Mission.
