ICAR-CIWA observed Women in Agriculture Day on 4 December, 2019

ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture (ICAR-CIWA), Bhubaneswar observed Women in Agriculture Day at Ali Pingala Village,Chamarpada Panchayat, Nimapada block of Puri district. At the outset importance this Day was discussed among the farm women and encouraged to take up various income generating activities in agriculture as a challenging option for doubling their income. During this occasion Quiz, Rangoli and Debate competitions on 'Effect of climate change on agriculture' were organized. A total of 150 farm women participated in the programme. A farmer-scientist interface was organized wherein the problems faced by the women farmers related agriculture were discussed and Dr Biswanath Sahoo advised various solution to dairy farm women and encouraged them for fodder cultivation. During the programme Er. Chaitrali S. Mhatre demonstrated various drudgery recuing tools and Harvest bag to women farmers. The Chief Guest of this programmes was Dr. S. K. Srivastava, Director, ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar. He interacted with the women farmers and address the importance of the celebration of Women in Agriculture day. At the end of the programme, the winners of various competitions were awarded with suitable prizes and certificates. This programme was coordinated by the Nodal Officer Ms Gayatri Moharana and Co Nodal Officer Er Chaitrali S. Mhatre with the other team members of CIWA Mrs Geeta Saha, Er. Pragati Kishore Rout, Er Subrat K. Dasand Mrs Usharani Maradana.
