ICAR-CIWA observed Agricultural Education Day on 3 December, 2020

ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture (ICAR-CIWA), Bhubaneswar observed 'Agricultural Education Day' with the students and teachers of Government Nodal High School, CRP, Baramunda, Bhubaneswar and DAV School, Kalinga Nagar, Bhubaneswar in virtual mode through zoom platform. During this occasion Drawing competitions on ‘Importance of farming during COVID Pandemic' and 'Role of Farmers during Covid Pandemic' was organized among School students. The Chief Guest of this programmes was Dr. S. K. Srivastava, Director, ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar. At the outset Ms. Gayatri Moharana relayed to the participants the beginning & importance of Agricultural Education Day. The chief guest Dr. S. K. Srivastava enlighten the students on various career possibilities in the field of agriculture and its importance in the sustainability of life and growth of Indian economy. The teachers, Mrs Dipali Das Mohapatra and Mrs. Jeesa Saatpathy discussed the need to introduce agriculture as subject in the early education system for benefit of students and future of agriculture. During the programme, Dr A. K. Panda, Dr. Lipi Das, Dr. Biswanath Sahoo and Mr Manoranjan Prusty also interacted with students and briefed about various scopes in agriculture and allied sector to select as an vocations and also emphasised the students on importance of agriculture. They also highlighetd about various disciplines while choosing the subject during graduation level. The role that this younger generation has to play to ensure agricultural sustainability. This programme was coordinated by the Nodal Officer Ms Gayatri Moharana and Co Nodal Officer Er Chaitrali S. Mhatre with the other team members of CIWA Mrs Geeta Saha, Er. Pragati Kishore Rout, Er Subrat K. Das and Mr. Bhikari Behera.
