Celebration of Agricultural Education Day by ICAR-CIWA

Agricultural Education Day was celebrated by ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar on 3rd December 2021 at Bidyadharpur village, Satyabadi Block, Puri District. The celebration was organized to commemorate the birth Anniversary of Dr Rajendra Prasad, the first President of independent India. The celebration was organized in collaboration with Nilachal Krushak Sanghatan, Puri and Mahila Vikas Sanghatan, Puri. Dr Anil Kumar, Director, ICAR-CIWA was the Chief Guest of the programme. Dr Ananta Sarkar, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIWA and Co-Nodal Officer welcomed the Chief Guest, other dignitaries and farm women to the function. Dr Tanuja S. Scientist, ICAR-CIWA, Nodal Officer highlighted the importance of the day and the contribution of Dr Rajendra Prasad to the Agricultural education system of India. Dr Anil Kumar, Director, ICAR-CIWA, the Chief Guest of the day stressed upon the need for promoting agricultural education among students as well as farmers for agricultural prosperity of the country. He reiterated that agriculture is the backbone of the country and farm women is the indispensible part of Indian agriculture. He highlighted on the contributions of ICAR-CIWA in gender mainstreaming and women empowerment. A quiz competition was conducted for the students by the ICAR-CIWA team and the winners were felicitated. Critical inputs in the form of vegetable kits were distributed forty five SC farm women as an initial step towards establishing nutrition gardens in their backyards for addressing nutritional insufficiency of rural families. About 200 farmers and students including 110 farm women participated in the programme. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr D.N.Sadangi, Technical Officer, ICAR-CIWA.
