ICAR-CIWA celebrated its 27th Foundation Day on 17th February, 2022 through hybrid mode. On this occasion, a Scientist-Farmer Interface was organized in which 150 farmwomen from the adopted villages in Cuttack and Puri districts of Odisha participated. The Hon'ble DDG (Agril.Edn.), ICAR, New Delhi, Dr. R. C. Agarwal graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Dr.P.S.Panday, ADG (EP & HS), ICAR, New Delhi, was the Guest of Honour, while Dr. Sasmita Mohanty Chairperson, PG Council, Rama Devi Women's University, Bhubaneswar, was the speaker to deliver the Foundation Day Lecture. Besides, there were many other dignitaries from ICAR, SAUs and NGOs who attended this auspicious function. At the outset of this event, the Director of the Institute, Dr. Anil Kumar welcomed all the Delegates and highlighted the significant achievements of the Institute. A video on 'Journey of ICAR-CIWA' was screened before the audience. Dr. R. C. Agarwal, DDG (Agril.Edn.), ICAR the important role of CIWA is playing in this sector research in this country and has marked its presence at the global level. He also underlined the development of hunam resource for sustainability of Indian agriculture. Dr. P. S. Pandey, ADG (EP & HS), ICAR articulated his satisfaction for organizing Institute Foundation Day during the celebration between of Ajadi Ka Amrit Mahostav in the country and also highlighted the important colloboration CIWA with national and international organizations for advancement of farm women. Dr Sasmita Mohanty, Chairman, PG Council, Rama Devi Women's University highlighted about the need for women’s education and empowerment for leading a quality life. During Farmer-Scientist Interface, queries of farm women were answered by the expert team of CIWA.Twelve progressive farm women from nine different adopted villages were awarded. Awardees of ICAR-CIWA Personnel were also recognized. A formal vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Sabita Mishra, Nodal Officer, Foundation Day.
