Like every year, ICAR-CIWA observed the World Food Day on October 16, 2016. The theme of the Day was 'Climate is Changing: Food and Agriculture must too'. The ICAR-CIWA together with other ICAR Institutions participated in a programme organized by Orissa Krushak Samaj in Bhubaneswar. Many Agricultural R&D stakeholders including farmers, both Men and Women, participated in the Programme. Among the notable personalities who attended the programme were Dr. A. K. Singh, DDG(Agril. Extn), ICAR, Dr. J. K. Jena DDG(Fisheries Science), Dr. Jatinder Kishtwaria, Director, ICAR-CIWA Bhubaneswar, Dr. H. Pathak, Director, ICAR-NRRI Cuttack, Dr, Khageswar Pradhan, former Vice Chancellor, OUAT, Dr. P. C. Mohanthy, Chairman, Orissa Krushak Samaj, Mr. Guru Prasad Mohanthy and Scientists of ICAR Institutions. Dr. Jatinder Kishtwaria, Director, ICAR-CIWA in her address highlighted the need to create awareness among women farmers about consequences of Climate Change and make them empowered to adopt new scientific practices to mitigate the adverse impact of Climate Change. On the Occasion, Dr. Jatinder Kishtwaria Director, ICAR-CIWA was conferred 'Krushi Ratna Award-2016' by Orissa Krushak Samaj for her significant contribution to Research on women in agriculture and her consistent efforts to make women empowered with new Knowledge and Technology. ICAR-CIWA also put up a stall displaying some of the important achievements of the Institute that are useful for Women Farmers. Dignitaries and farmers who attended the programme also visited the ICAR-CIWA Stall.
