Workshop on 'Outreach Strategies for Dissemination of Institutional Innovations for Engendering Agriculture' (22-23 July, 2015)

A two days workshop was conducted on the topic ‘Outreach Strategies for Dissemination of Institutional Innovations for Engendering Agriculture’ during 22-23 July 2015 at ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar. More than100 participants representing various organizations of Odisha viz: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), ICAR-Central Rice Research Institute (CRRI), OUAT, Utkal University, R.D. Women University, KIIT University, Xavier Institute of Management, Orissa Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS), Orissa Tribal Empowerment and Livelihood Programme (OTELP), State Institute for Rural Development (SIRD), Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises-Development Institute (MSME-DI), APICOL, Odisha Watershed Mission, Odisha Water Resource Department, Quality Control Cell (QCC), Water And Land Management Institute (WALMI), M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, Research scholars, Entrepreneurs, NGOs etc. working for women empowerment participated in the workshop. In this programme, the Director of the organization Dr. S. K. Srivastava emphasized on different research and extension activities carried out by ICAR-CIWA for women empowerment. During inauguration, four checklist folders related to assessing gender sensitivity of working environment, institutional programmes, extension methods and women friendliness of agricultural technologies were released. There were about 25 lectures organized under 5 theme areas related to outreach strategies of different stakeholders to reach rural women. The two days workshop was successfully concluded with a plenary session.

The workshop was conducted under the ICAR-CIWA research project 'Development and testing of institutional innovations for empowering women in agriculture'. Dr. Sabita Mishra, Dr. Ananta Sarkar, Dr. L.P. Sahoo, Ms. Gayatri Moharana and Dr. Shivaji D. Argade coordinated the programme.
