The XXII Biennial Workshop of All India Coordinated Research Project on Home Science has been hosted by the College of Home Science, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat Assam from 10th and 11th February, 2017. This workshop was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Honb’le Deputy Director General (Agricultural Education), Dr. Narendra Singh Rathore. The Honb’le Vice Chancellor, Dr. K. M. Bujarbaruah chaired the inaugural session and Ms. Zerifa Wahid, Ambassador, Assam Autism Foundation & Special Olympics Bharat (Assam Chapter) was the Guest of Honour for this programme.

The Director of Research, AAU, Jorhat, Dr. G. N. Hazarika delivered welcome address and highlighted the achievements of AAU, Jorhat. The Director, ICAR- Central Institute for Women in Agriculture cum Programme Coordinator of AICRP on Home Science presented Key Note address to the gathering and highlighted the major achievements of the project under five components of Home Science. She also narrated the steps taken for strengthening of projects for visible output and outcome. The future thrust areas and proposed projects for the Medium Plan for future were also explained by Project Coordinator, AICRP on Home Science.

The Chief Guest, Dr. N. S. Rathore, Honourable DDG, Agricultural Education appreciated the research works carried by the different components of Home Science. He stressed to conduct needful work to bridge the gap between present demand and supply. He advised to carry out research projects in an integrated approach rather than isolated approach to empower the rural women.

Dr. K. M. Bujarbaruah, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, in his presidential address highlighted for establishing linkages for different National Programmes to bring visibility of AICRP Project on Home Science. He also addressed to revisit the works till date and establishing collaboration with different departments and mainly with farming community to get its existence. He appreciated the works done by AAU, Jorhat under this AICRP on Home Science.
