Awareness Programmes on "Prevention of nutrients loss during food preparation"

The ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture (ICAR-CIWA) is observing ‘‘Bharat ka Amrut Mahostsav" from 5.7.2021 to 23.8.2021. As part of it, an awareness programme for farm women was organized on “Prevention of nutrients loss during food preparation” on 13th August, 2021 at Majhihara village of Balipatna block under Khordha district of Odisha by following appropriate Covid guidelines.
On the occasion, we sensitized the farm women regarding importance of celebration of 'Bharat ka Amrut Mahostsav' in the eve of 75 years Indepence of India followed by discussion about the significance of food and nutrition for our health. Also highlighted the roles of carbohydrate, protein, fat, vitamins and minerals in growth and development of human body. In addition, created alertness among farm women to preserve the nutrients during food preparation with some easy tips. The farm women were advised to take proper balanced diet including milk and milk products, meat, egg, fish, mushroom and sprouted nuts and at the same time should grow nutrition garden and poultry in their backyards. Lastly, informed them the Government Guidelines to prevent the spread of Corona Viruse at home as well as in their communities. About 60 farm women had participated in the programme.
