Parthenium Awareness Week (16th to 22nd August, 2021)

Parthenium awareness week was celebrated at ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture from 16th to 22nd August, 2021. A wide range of activities were conducted to spread maximum awareness among staff members, farm and campus workers as well as farm women in different project villages. The scientific and technical staff attended a lecture on "Parthenium weed problem and its management at the global level" by Dr. Steve W. Adkins, Professor of Plant Physiology, University of Queensland Australia on 16th August, 2021 on launching of Parthenium Awareness Week. All the staff members of the institute actively participated in Parthenium eradication drive by removing the weed present outside the institute. The ICAR-CIWA campus and Farm area are approaching to achieve Parthenium free campus. To spread the awareness in adopted villages on 21st August a programme was organised in Erada village in Jagatsinghpur village involving school children and farm women and mass awareness was done.
