Training cum Demonstration programme on “Improved package of practices for higher income through backyard poultry farming and distribution of inputs to Women SC farmers @ Bharat ka Amrut Mahostav

ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar organized a Training cum Demonstration programme on “Improved package of practices for higher income through backyard poultry farming” on 7th October 2021 at Sagada village of Nimapara block, Puri district of Odisha under SCSP programme by following appropriate Covid guidelines. On this occasion, Dr. Arun Kumar Panda, Principal Scientist highlighted the role of backyard poultry farming on livelihood improvement and household nutrition of farm families. He advised the farm women to adopt improved management practices for higher income through backyard poultry rearing. He further stated that selecting the appropriate varieties of chicken, supplementary feeding, health care, proper housing and day to day care are highly essential to make backyard poultry production a successful enterprise. Various poultry equipments were demonstrated to the farm women during the training. In the programme various agricultural implements were distributed to 50 SC women farmers under the Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan (SCSP) scheme. The programme was coordinated by Dr. A. K. Panda, Pr. Sci., Mr. Neetish Kumar, Scientist, Er. Pragati Rout, Tech. Asst. and Er. Subrat Das, Tech. Asst. The programme was organized as a part of the “Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav” to commemorate 75 Years of India’s Independence.
