Dissemination of gender friendly technologies in Keonjhar District under SCSP

An interface meeting with farmers, extension workers and scientists was organized on 10th December 2021 at Narangpur village (Baripal GP) in Ghasipura block of Keonjhar district under the ongoing celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The programme was attended by Mrs. Subhashree Nayak, (Assistant Agricultural Officer, Anandpur) Er. R. N Behera (Assistant Executive Engineer), Mr. Debabrata Mishra (Agriculture Overseer, Ghasipura), Smt. Heeramani Jena (Sarpanch) and 50 SC farm women from different clusters of the village. Dr. Praveen Jakhar explained the salient points of SCSP programme and highlighted the women friendly technologies developed by ICAR-CIWA. He also emphasized the need for agricultural diversification and the role of tools and implements for better livelihood opportunities. Dr. Sachidananda Swain, Sr. Scientist (AS & PE) emphasized need for the market linkage of the farm produce with value addition for fetching better market price. Agricultural officers of Ghasipura and Ananadpur gave an account of the women clusters operational in the area. During the interface meeting extension officials stressed on the need for drudgery reducing tools for farm women. Women farmers shared their experiences as well as challenges faced during different farm related activities. After the interface meeting the distribution of tool and implements was done to 50 SC farm women. The interface meeting ended with thanks to all the officials of Keonjhar district, Sarpanch, progressive farmers and SC farm women beneficiaries of the village for their active participation. During the second day (11th December 2021) of the programme field demonstration of gender friendly tools equipments and interaction with women FPO were done.
