Women in Agriculture Day was celebrated on 7th December, 2021 at Taraboisasan village of Icchupurgram panchayat in Nimapara block of Puri district. The programme was initially planned for 4th December but the date was changed due to impending cyclone Jawad. Dr. Sanjay Mohanty, senior scientist and Head, KVK Sakhigopal, Puri was the Chief Guest at the programme. About 100 farm women from nearby villages participated in the programme. Mrs Geeta Saha, Technical Officer welcomed all the dignitaries, participants and briefed about the importance of celebration of Women in Agriculture Day. The Chief Guest, Dr. Sanjay Mohanty, appreciated the effort of ICAR CIWA in its endeavor for empowering farm women in the country. Dr. (Mrs.) Jyoti Nayak, emphasized the importance of balanced diet to overcome malnutrition and advised the participants to raise nutritional garden in their backyard. Dr. Praveen Jakhar, highlighted about the importance of organic farming. Dr. Sachidananda Swain told the farmwomen about the various women related govt. schemes for income generation and encouraged the farmwomen to establish enterprises to become self dependent. Dr. (Mrs.) D. Paramjita, scientist from KVK, Sakhigopal emphasized on the recycling of farm waste and its decomposition. This programme was coordinated by the Nodal Officer Dr Jyoti Nayak and Mrs Geeta Saha.
