Workshop on "Intellectual Property Rights: Issues and Challenges" conducted by ICAR-CIWA

Under the National Agriculture Innovation Fund (NAIF) Component- I, ITMU cell of ICAR-CIWA organized one day workshop on “Intellectual Property Rights: Issues and Challenges” for sensitization of Scientists and Technical Personnel of the institute. The workshop began with welcome address by Er. Chaitrali S. Mhatre, Scientist of the Institute. Dr. A.K. Panda, Pr. Scientist and Member Secretary, ITMU gave a brief orientation about the workshop and made a presentation on the activities of the ITMU cell of the institute. Dr. Anil Kumar, Director in his introductory remarks highlighted about the importance of IPR issues in today’s context. He urged the scientists to follow the ICAR guidelines for IP management and advised to submit the IP generated by them for further needful. Dr. Baburam Singh, Retd. Professor, OUAT, Bhubaneswar, the invited speaker delivered a presentation on the theme of the workshop. In his presentation, he discussed about different types of Intellectual Property such as Patents, Copyrights, Trademarks, Trade Secrets, Plant varieties, Geographical Indications and Industrial design etc and its importance in the present scenario. This was followed by an open discussion on various IPR issues. The workshop ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Ananta Sarkar, Pr. Scientist of the Institute.
