ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar organized a skill based capacity building programme under the institute research project "Development of Women Entrepreneurship in Livestock and Fisheries Sector for Promoting Gender Equity and Strengthening Livelihood" at Sribantapur, Jagatsinghpur district, Odisha on 5th March 2022 following COVID guidelines. Dr B. Sahoo, Pr. Scientist, ICAR-CIWA oriented about the programme. In his orientation, he highlighted the importance of small scale goatery and poultry for strengthening the livelihood of farm women. He also emphasized on scientific management practices and the importance of fodder for making the goat farming a sustainable enterprise. Dr. A. K. Panda, Pr. Scientist, ICAR-CIWA discussed about the role of small scale poultry farming on enhancing income and nutrition security of farm families. He stressed on improved management practices to make the poultry farming a profitable enterprise. He advised the farm women to provide supplementary feeding to the bird by making feed through locally available feed resources. Dr Banoj kumar Pati, Veterinary Asst. Surgeon, Machhagaon, Jagatsinghpur, emphasized on diseases of economic importance of goats and poultry, their prevention and remedial measures. He advised for timely vaccination to prevent the occurrence of disease in animals and to avoid economic loss. Around fifty farm women have participated in the skilled based capacity building programme. The programme was coordinated by Dr A.K. Panda, Pr. Scientist, and Dr B. Sahoo, Pr. Scientist of ICAR-CIWA. The programme was organised as a part of Bharat ki Azadi ka Amrit Mahostav to commemorate 75 years of India's independence.
