Annual Workshop of All India Coordinated Research Project (Women in Agriculture) organized at ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar

ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar organized a two days Annual Workshop of AICRP on Women in Agriculture during 12th-13th May, 2022 at ICAR-CIWA. Dr. R. C. Agrawal, DDG (Agril. Education), ICAR was the Chief Guest for the inaugural session and Dr. P. S. Pandey, ADG (EP&HS), ICAR was the Guest of Honour. Dr. P. S. Pandey highlighted the important role of ICAR-CIWA and AICRP on Women in Agriculture in addressing the challenges of women in agriculture in India and guides the policy directions in the country. He emphasized on prioritization of the gender related issues and identification of performance indicators for the impact study. The Chief Guest, Dr. R. C. Agrawal emphasized the significance of ICAR-CIWA in empowerment of farm women and gender mainstreaming in agriculture. He stressed on conducting research on the upcoming gender related issues, scope to solve the challenges and progress further to take position in the world as a unique institute. Dr. Anil Kumar, Director of the institute welcomed the dignitaries and participants. He highlighted the collaborative research activities of ICAR-CIWA with all the 19 centers of AICRP on Women in Agriculture across the country and making significant interventions for the livelihoods of farmwomen. On this occasion, one exhibition was inaugurated by the Chief Guest in which AICRP centres and ICAR-CIWA showcased their technologies. Six Technical Sessions were organized to review the achievements and future plan of work under the five programs of AICRP. Esteemed Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary DARE & DG, ICAR graced the concluding session as the Chief Guest. In his speech he highlited the importance of Nutri-Smart Village program to make India free from malnutition as desired by Hon'able Prime Minister of the Nation. Dr. Mohapatra also discussed about the issues faced by AICRP scientists and gave his remarks for solutions. A formal vote of thanks was extended by Dr. Lipi Das, Nodal AICRP (WIA). About 80 scientists from 18 AICRP centers and ICAR-CIWA participated in this workshop. On 13.05.2022, a lecture on "Sampling Techniques and Discrete Choice Models for Impact Assessment Studies" was deliverd by Dr. Girish Kumar Jha, Principal Scientist (Agril. Economics), IARI, New Delhi followed by a presentation on "Technology Solutions for Nutri-village Program" by Zoom Video Communications, India was organized. On the same day a field visit was also organized at Dubduba village of Satyabadi Block in Puri District to review the implementation of Nutri-Smart village project by Dr. R. C. Agrawal, DDG (Agril. Education), ICAR and other dignitaries. The farm women in the village displayed the value added nutri-products before the guests in the village. The field visit was coordinated by Dr. Jyoti Nayak, Principal Investigator of the institute Nutri-Smart Village project.
