Awareness Programme on “Nutri Sensitive Agriculture” among the school children organized by ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar

ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar organized an Awareness Programme on Nutri Sensitive Agriculture among the school children of Mahanta Balaramdas Vidyapitha, village- Chaudabatia, block- Satyabadi of Puri district, Odisha on 29 July 2022. The objective of the programme was to sensitize the school children on the importance of Nutri Sensitive Agriculture for improving their physical and mental health . Dr Jyoti Nayak, Pr. Scientist welcomed the gathering and briefed about importance of the awareness programme for the school children. Shri Santosh Kumar Mishra, Headmaster of the school briefly described the importance of balanced diet and education in life of school children. Dr. A. K. Panda, Pr. Scientist in his speech highlighted the different food items available in the local area and how these are helpful to fulfil the nutritional demand of the school going children. Smt Gayatri Mohapatra, Sarapanch emphasized the children to gather knowledge on nutrition as they are the future of the Nation. Dr Anil Kumar, Director encouraged the children to be dreamers for their future. They have to try their best to be best citizens of a healthy Nation. He invited the children to visit ICAR-CIWA and acquire latest know how in agriculture. A debate competition on “Eradication of Malnutrition through Nutri-sensitive Agriculture” was organized among the students and the winners awarded. Er. Pragati Kishore Rout, Er. Subrat Kumar Das, Smt Kanakalata Panda, Shri Jogendra Baral have contributed for the success of the programme. About 250 students, teachers, elected representatives including ICAR-CIWA officials participated in the programme. The programme was organised as a part of Bharat ki Azadi ka Amrit Mahostav to commemorate 75 years of India's independence.
