ICAR-CIWA organised training cum exposure visit programme for women farmers of Biridi block under ATMA Scheme on 30.07.2022

ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture (ICAR-CIWA) organised one-day training cum exposure visit for women farmers of Biridi block, Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha on July 30, 2022. Forty participants from Biridi block including Block Agricultural Officer and staff participated in this programme. The training programme was organised under ATMA scheme. Dr. Arpita Mohapatra, the coordinator welcomed all the participants and briefed them about the need of exposure visit for women farmers. Dr. Anil Kumar, Director of ICAR-CIWA highlighted the ongoing activities of the institute and brought focal attention to the audience about the role played by the institute for the welfare of the farm women both in the state and national domain. Participants also shared their experiences, prospective and challenges to the other fellow farmers and scientists in their respective agricultural activities. Lectures were delivered by the experts in the said programme covering important areas, like livelihood improvement through goat farming by Dr. Biswanath Sahoo women based agri-technologies for drudgery reduction by Dr. Jyoti Nayak, value addition of agricultural produce by Dr. Sachidananda Swain and innovations in dairy farming by Dr. Arpita Mohapatra and of the institute in the line of the objectives of the programmes which were highly acclaimed by the participants. Mrs. Prashna Priyadarshini, block agricultural officer, Biridi proposed the vote of thanks and appreciated the efforts of the institute for the betterment of the farming communities in Odisha. Post-lunch exposure visit of the campus was coordinated by Sri Manoranjan Prusty, Technical Officer ICAR-CIWA. The participants also visited the demonstration unit and learnt about the package and practices of vegetable crops for enhancing productivity.
