Parthenium awareness week was celebrated at ICAR-CIWA by organizing a number of activities to spread awareness among staff members, farm workers, school children as well as farm women in different villages. The staff members of the institute actively participated in Parthenium eradication drive by removing the weeds present outside the institute. ICAR-CIWA campus and farm area are now a Parthenium free campus. To spread the awareness in adopted villages a mass awareness was organised on 20-08-2022 in Guapur village of Khorda district. A sensitization programme was also organised in Govt. High School, Guapur in which school children,teachers and staff members were apprised of the

harmful effects of Parthenium weed and they were advised were given to maintain Parthenium free school campus. Fifty farm women in the village Guapur also participated in the demonstration on composting method of the Parthenium weed for its proper utilization. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Praveen Jakhar, Senior Scientist (Agronomy), Dr. D. N. Sadangi (Tech. Officer) and Sh. M. Prusty (Tech. Officer).
