Agricultural Education Day was celebrated by ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar on 3rd December 2022 by involving students of Government Nodal High School, CRP, Baramunda, Bhubaneswar. The celebration was organized to commemorate the birth Anniversary of Dr Rajendra Prasad, the first President of independent India to inculcate the importance of this profession in sustaining the society. Dr Sabita Mishra, Director (I/c), ICAR-CIWA was the Chief Guest of the programme and Smt. Kalpana Muduli, Headmistress, Government Nodal High School, CRP, Baramunda, Bhubaneswar was the Guest of Honour. Dr Tanuja S, Senior Scientist &Nodal Officer of the programme welcomed the guests, other dignitaries, staff and students to the function. Dr Sabita Mishra highlighted the importance of the day and the contribution of Dr Rajendra Prasad to the Agricultural education system of India. She also stressed upon the importance of agriculture to the economy of the nation and need for promoting agricultural education among students as well as farmers for agricultural prosperity of the country. During the programme an awareness talk on the importance of nutri-garden in tackling malnutrition was delivered by DrJyotiNayak, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIWA. She urged the students to abstain from intake of junk food and stressed upon the importance of balanced diet in maintaining a healthy life. Dr. Tanuja S, Senior Scientist delivered a talk on the health benefits from consumption of fish. Leaflets on the nutritional importance of green leafy vegetables, milk, egg and fish were distributed among the students. Smt.Kalpana Muduli, Headmistress, Government Nodal High School, CRP, Baramunda, Bhubaneswar was presented with vegetable seed kits by Director (I/c), ICAR-CIWA to initiate the establishment of nutri-garden in the school premises. About 150 students participated in the programme. The programme was co-ordinated by Dr. Tanuja S, Senior Scientist and Shri. Atul C. Hemrom, Senior Technical Assistant, ICAR-CIWA.
