ICAR-CIWA organised Scientist- Stakeholder Interface on Women Entrepreneurship in Livestock and Fisheries Sector at Amanakuda, Balipatna on 6th January, 2023
A Scientist-Stakeholder Interface was organized on Women Entrepreneurship in Livestock and Fisheries Sector at Amanakuda, Balipatna , Distt. Khorda on 06th Jan 2023 under the project "Development of women entrepreneurship in Livestock and fisheries sector for promoting gender equity and strengthening livelihood in association with farmers producer organisation "Maheera". At the outset Dr Biswanath Sahoo, Pr. Scientist welcomed the dignitaries, participants from nearby villages covered under FPO, field functionaries of various departments, NGOs, Goat keepers association "Manikastu", Kalahandi and briefed the objectivities and activities of ICAR-CIWA in collaboration with FPO in agriculture and allied sectors. Dr Lipi Das, Pr. Scientist detailed the role of women farmers producer organisation for value chain development. Dr A.K. Panda, Principal Scientist advised the farmers to establish small scale poultry production enterprises in integrated farming system. The process of establishment of women entrepreneurship through goatery and fishery were also discussed by Dr B. Sahoo, Pr. Scientist and Dr Tanuja S., Sr. Scientist. Dr Saswat Pradhan, Vety. Asstt. Surgeon, Banamalipur urged the farmers to ensure vaccination of livestock against viral diseases and detailed various ongoing schemes in Animal husbandry sector. Smt. Jayanti Mahapatra, Managing Director of Goat keepers association "Manikastu", Kalahandi shared the success story of goatery to motivate the farmers to work in entrepreneurship mode. Four progressive farmers shared their success stories involved in integrated farming system. Mrs Kumudini Swain, Chairperson of FPO, Maheera appreciated the work undertaken by ICAR-CIWA for the upliftment of farm women in Agriculture and allied works. Various women friendly agricultural tools were demonstrated and mineral mixture and vegetable seed were distributed to the concerned farm women under SCSP programme. The programme was coordinated by Dr B. Sahoo, and Mrs Tapaswini Sahoo of ICAR-CIWA. The programme was concluded with thanks by Mr Pratap kumar Nayak, Board of Director, FPO, Maheera.
