ICAR-CIWA organized programme on improved Goat distribution under Scheduled Caste Subplan (SCSP) programme

ICAR- CIWA organised distribution of black bengal goats under SCSP programme for promoting gender equality and strengthening livelihood support through improved goat farming at Village: Srirampur, Balipatna block, Khurda and Sagada, Nimapara block, Puri on 11.08.2023. Black bengal type goats of 39 nos. were procured from different villages nearby Jajpur with the active support of Dr. Srinivas Kar, CDVO, Dr. Bimal Mohapatra, SDVO, and Dr. Jyoti ranjan Mohanty, Vety. officer, Jajpur and distributed in selected villages of Khurda and puri district to avoid the inbreeding depression which occurs as a major problem in Odisha. About 15 SC women farmers of Maheera Farmers producer organization (FPO) in Balipatna block and 7 women farmers in Nimapara block were benefited under this programme which was organised in presence of Sarpanch Kavitha Bhoi and Samiti sbhaya Jhilli Bhoi, along with active cooperation from personnel from FPO, Smt. Kumudini Swain chairperson, Maheera (FPO), Sri Nimai Nayak, Marketing Manager and Sh. Tushar Pradhan, board of director. During the distribution programmme at village Sagada. Nimapada block, Sarpanch Madhusmita Sahu and SHG leader Smt. Jhili lata Das actively participated. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Arun Kumar Panda, Pr. Scientist, Dr. Biswanath sahoo, Pr. Scientist, Dr. Praveen Jakhar, Sr. Scientist and Shri Parbhat Nayak, Finance officer of ICAR-CIWA. Dr Mridula Devi, Director, ICAR-CIWA appreciated the activities of goat distribution work for the benefit of SC farming community to create employment in rural areas and improvement of economic status of rural under privileged especially in coastal belt of Odisha.
