ICAR-CIWA and MANAGE, Hyderabad On-line Collaborative Training Programme organised on 6-10 November 2023

ICAR-CIWA and MANAGE, Hyderabad organized an on-line collaborative Training Programme on “Gender Mainstreaming and Women Empowerment through Technology based interventions in Agriculture" during 6-10 November 2023. The training comprised of several on-line lectures from Guest Experts from ICAR-CIWA and MANAGE, Hyderabad with an aim to update the extension scientists, academicians, students and professionals in agriculture and allied sectors with the latest gender-sensitive approaches in agriculture. Education through training on agripreneurship based on improved package of practices was emphasized and gender issues in crop-livestock-fishery system, food and nutritional security through animal agriculture, livelihood improvement of farmwomen, climate change and nutrition security extension strategies for socio economic empowerment of farm women, gender sensitive family farming through animal agriculture, leadership and entrepreneurship development etc. were covered in the 5 days training programme. The drudgery of women farmers and its alleviation through mechanization, women friendly Govt. schemes, policies and women-friendly technologies in crop, horticulture, fisheries and animal science sectors, participatory Communication for Gendered approach and digitization in agriculture through artificial intelligence, ICT approaches were also elaborated. The training programme received an overall 116 registered participants and 53 female and 63 male participants from 22 states, 1 union territory and 2 International participation. Overall, the training consisted of several interactive sessions, presentations, open discussions, which enabled the participants to enhance their existing knowledge and experience in agriculture. Dr Mridula Devi, Director ICAR-CIWA, appraised the participants from different organisations and emphasized upon the creation of awareness through gender sensitization of various women friendly technologies among govt. officials and stakeholders for bridging the gender gap and missing links for empowering women farmers. The training was successfully coordinated by Dr. B. Sahoo, Pr. Scientist, ICAR-CIWA & Dr. Veenita Kumari, Deputy Director (Gender Studies), MANAGE, Hyderabad as Course Directors along with Dr. A.K Panda, Pr. Scientist and Dr. Praveen Jakhar, Sr. Scientist as Course Co-coordinators
