ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar organized a seminar on “Educating climate change action, agro-advisory services and sustainability” at Lamtaput, of Koraput district of Odisha on 26th December 2023 in collaboration with Mukti Social Service Organization, Puri funded by the Ministry of Earth Science. The Chief Guest of the programme, Mrs Sunita Samantray, Vice-principal of Degree College, Lamtaput highlighted the adverse effect of climate change on human health and urged the youth to take remedial measures in day to day life. A detail discussion was made about the impact of climate change on agricultural productivity, health and productivity of livestock and poultry with required agro advisory services. The main focus was on climate change impacts on agriculture, especially the shift of season, increased temperature, change in precipitation on agriculture, soil, water etc. and women-friendly technologies/ approaches to mitigate the same. A special interactive session was conducted among the participants on the issues and approached related to climate change, agriculture, and women. Officials from PRADAN, Students of the Lamtaput Degree College, Farmers, and farm women participated in the seminar. The programme was attended by 150 participants.
