ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar in collaboration with MANAGE, Hyderabad organized an on-line collaborative Training Programme on ‘Women Empowerment through Climate Resilient Agricultural Technologies for Sustainable Food Systems’ during 03-07 February 2025. The training programme was projected to enhance the knowledge and skill of scientists, researchers and officials about women friendly climate resilient agricultural interventions for sustainable food production and further refining of the climate resilient agricultural technologies with women perspective for wider scale adoption in the agrarian families. The 5 days training course covered the topics of role of women in sustainable food systems, impact of climate change on livelihood of women farmers, climate-smart interventions in agriculture and animal husbandry sectors, predictive technologies for climate resilient agriculture, role of artificial intelligence (AI) and internet of things (IoT) in reducing climate vulnerability and case studies of successful farmwomen and farmers through climate resilient agricultural practices. The training comprised of 20 lectures including 7 lectures from Guest Experts from various ICAR organizations, viz., Central Horticultural Experiment Station, ICAR-IIHR, Bengaluru; ICAR-NBSS & LUP, Kolkata; ICAR-RCER, Research Centre, Ranchi; ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad; ICAR-IIVR, Varanasi; ICAR-DPR, RC, Bhubaneswar and ICAR-IIWM, Bhubaneswar. The training had 45 registered participants from 18 states across the country. The participants included faculties from SAU’s, ICAR Scientists, KVK scientists, Researchers and Students. Overall, the training included several interactive sessions, presentations and open discussions which enabled the participants to enhance their knowledge and experience about the recent advances in climate resilient technologies in agri-allied sectors and devising appropriate women friendly strategies for sustainable food systems. The training was successfully coordinated by Dr. Tania Seth, Scientist, ICAR-CIWA & Dr. N. Balasubramani, Director (Climate Change and Adaptation (CCA)), MANAGE, Hyderabad as Course Coordinators along with Dr. Arpita Mohapatra, Scientis, ICAR-CIWA as Course Co-coordinator. |
