ICAR-CIWA and Digital Green Trust Organized Residential Training on Mobile-Based Video Production for FPOs/FPCs

On May 22, 2025, ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture (ICAR-CIWA), in collaboration with Digital Green Trust, conducted a two-days (22-23 May 2025) residential training program on mobile-based video production. The training aimed to equip members of Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) with the necessary skills to create and disseminate videos focused on women-friendly agricultural technologies within their communities. The inaugural session was held on 22 May 2025 at 10:30 AM and was graced by several dignitaries, including Dr. Mridula Devi, Director of ICAR-CIWA; Dr. Sukanta Kumar Sarangi, Head, Division of Agricultural Technologies for Women, ICAR-CIWA; Mr. Vishal Vardhan, Senior Specialist, Digital Green Trust; Mr. Chandan Dash, Program Officer, Digital Green Trust; and Mr. Ashwini, Regional Coordinator from Watershed Support Services and Activities Network (WASSAN). FPC members from five districts (Balangir, Khordha, Kandhamal, Mayurbhanj and Puri) and thirteen blocks (Puintala, Loisingha, Balipatna, G. Udaigiri, Bijatala, Jasipur, Bahalda, Jamda, Suliapada, Morad, Gadapalsa, Brahmagiri and Pipli) of Odisha participated in the training, which focused on practical, hands-on learning. Through this program, participants were equipped with skills in video production, including story boarding, understanding different types of shots, and basic video editing techniques. These skills will enable them to document and share local innovations and practices effectively, especially those tailored for women farmers. Speaking at the event, Dr. Mridula Devi emphasized the value of video as a learning tool: “Video is one of the most effective techniques to help farmers adopt women-friendly technologies. The visual format allows for easier understanding and can be accessed anytime, making it a sustainable and scalable method of knowledge dissemination.” Dr. S. K. Sarangi, stressed on rapid dissemination of women friendly advanced agricultural technologies by production of good quality short duration video focussing on technical contents in agriculture and allied disciplines. This initiative marks a significant step towards building the digital capacity of grassroots organizations and promoting inclusive technology adoption in agriculture.
