Capacity Building Program on “Empowerment of Tribal Women through Enterprise based Agri-Ventures” Under Tribal-Sub Plan Program

Under Tribal Sub Plan (TSP), A three-days Capacity Building Program on “Empowerment of Tribal Women through Enterprise based Agri-Ventures” was organized during 10-12 November 2025 at Mahisagotha and Kharamangi Villages of Badachana Block of Jajpur District. In this programme thirty tribal women participated who were cultivators as well as agricultural labourers. The programme was aimed at motivating, mobilizing and skill development of tribal women farmers for uplifting their socio-economic condition to lead a healthy and stable life. This training was a foundation program to make the tribal women aware about the TSP programme. The programme started with creating awareness among the participants about the major objectives of Tribal Sub-Plan Programme of Govt. of India and also made them sensitized about the different schemes of Govt of India in general and particularly for tribal women. A need assessment of the participants was done to understand the current socio-economic status, perception, willingness and knowledge level of the tribal women farmers. Information on the demographic profile, major and minor crops produced, production, processing and marketing of the produce was also done during the programme.
The training covered a range of topics viz., entrepreneurship through agriculture and allied sectors which mainly covered value addition in paddy, milk, etc. along with fiscal benefits from poultry and goat rearing; innovative entrepreneurial approaches and group dynamics for promoting gender equity; women entrepreneurship through farm mechanization by using various farm tools and implements; about mushroom cultivation for creating an opportunity for women into income generation, sustainability, and self-reliance. In addition, vegetable nursery raising, floriculture during varying seasons from small and backyard land with minimum investment was also shared to the participants. The participants were also apprised about package of practices for paddy cultivation and techniques to increase yield and reduce loss in different field crops. At the end distribution of inputs/tools for technological backstopping was also done in the presence of Sarpanch. In the side line, Jan Jatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada 2025 was also observed which commemorated the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagawan Birsa Munda, Tribal leader and his life, history and struggle for independence against the Britishers was shared with the participants.
