| The ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar organized a two days Demonstration-cum-Training Program on “Multi-commodity based Intensive Farming System (JANANI Nutri-garden Model)” during 25–26 February 2026 under the project Integration of Biofortified Tuber Crops in Cropping System for Nutrition and Livelihood Improvement of Farm Families. The objective of the programme was to demonstrate the Multi-commodity based Intensive Farming System (JANANI Nutri-garden Model) and to provide technical know-how for development of Nutri-garden in the homestead area. During 25 February 2026, the participants visited the JANANI Nutri-garden Model of ICAR-CIWA and Dr. Tania Seth, PI of the project explained the layout and crop calendar for year round production of vegetable crops including bio-fortified tuber crops. Demonstration on vermicomposting, oyster mushroom cultivation and pro-tray seedling raising was also conducted. In this program, vermi beds, rose can, garden pipe, sprayer, prong hoe, metal bucket, metal bin, plastic drum, khurpi and sickle were distributed to the scheduled tribe participants under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP). A total of 17 women farmer from Pitagadia village, Chandaka Block, Khordha District had participated in the programme. On 26 February 2026 the training program was organized in the Pitagadia village to provide training on site selection, layout and development of location specific nutri-garden at the farmer’s field. The Demonstration-cum-Training program helps in improving the technical knowledge about effectively utilization of homestead area for establishment of nutri-garden for livelihood improvement of farm families.
