XX Biennial workshop on AICRP on Home Science

The XX Biennial workshop on All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Home Sciences was held on Jan., 29-31, 2013 at University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad. In his inaugural address Dr. K D Kokate, DDG (Agril. Extn.), ICAR highlighted the importance of food and nutrition security for the farming community of the country. To overcome the nutritional problems it is necessary to implement Home Science Technology through outreach activities, he added. He emphasized the need of strategic research to bridge the nutrition gap and to attain Zero Hunger Index (ZHI).

Dr. R.R. Hanchinal, Vice Chancellor, UAS Dharwad, in his presidential address said that AICRP Home Science has to play important role in building the capacity of the farm women for the effective management of agricultural activities. Dr. Krishna Srinath, Director, DRWA & Project Coordinator AICRP highlighted the AICRP activities and achievements. She also laid out the future plan of the AICRP. The workshop was also graced by the QRT experts namely Dr. Ratna Tewari, Dr. Vandana Dwivedi, Dr. Mahtab Sohrab Bamji, and Dr. V.P. Chahal. The Workshop was attended by eighty Home Scientists from 9 AICRP centres and scientists of the DRWA. An exhibition on technological interventions of home sciences was also arranged. Dr. Shobha Nagnur, Organizing Secretary, College of Rural Home Science, UAS Dharwad proposed the vote of thanks.
