ICAR-CIWA celebrated ‘National Science Day’

ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture (ICAR-CIWA) celebrated "National Science Day" on 29th February, 2016. The theme for celebrating the day was "Make in India: S & T Innovations". On this occasion Dr. Jatinder Kishtwaria, Director, ICAR-CIWA was the Chief Guest. The programme was attended by all the scientific, technical and administrative staff members of ICAR-CIWA. Dr. Sabita Mishra, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIWA, delivered welcome address and importance of celebrating this day.

To mark the occasion, two eminent scientists were invited to deliver talks as well as displayed the technologies and innovations of ICAR-CIWA for the benefit of the participants. The first scientific speech was delivered by Dr. P. S. Brahmanand, Senior Scientist, ICAR-IIWM, Bhubaneswar on "Science and Technology, Society and Human Development". He emphasized the role of science and technological innovations for the development of the human being and society. The second scientific talk delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Birendra K. Das, Director and Chief of Nuclear Medicine, Utkal Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhubaneswar on "Changing Concept of Health and Disease in the Era of Molecular Medicine". He highlighted the advances in molecular medicine and its role in health management.
Dr. Jatinder Kishtwaria, Director & Chief Guest, briefed the history and importance of the celebrating "National Science Day" in India. She also highlighted the S & T innovations of ICAR-CIWA and their role in empowering women in agriculture. The vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Jyoti Nayak, Senior Scientist, ICAR-CIWA. The programme was compered by Dr. Shivaji Dadabhau Argade, Scientist, ICAR-CIWA.
