Deputy Director General (Agricultural Education) ICAR Dr.N S Rathore, inaugurated two days XXIII Biennial Workshop of AICRP on Home Science at Udaipur, Rajasthan

The XXIII Biennial Workshop of All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Home Science was hosted by the College of Community and Applied Sciences, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture & Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur, Rahasthan from 15-16 February, 2019. This workshop was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Honb’le Deputy Director General (Agricultural Education), Dr. Narendra Singh Rathore. The Honb’le Vice Chancellor, Dr. U. S Sharma chaired the inaugural session. Dr. Abhay Kumar Mehta, Director of Research, MPUAT, Udaipur and Prof. Ritu Singhvi, Dean CCAS, Udaipur were also present on the occasion. Scientists from twelve centres from eleven states participated in the workshop.

The Chief Guest, Dr. N. S. Rathore, Honourable DDG, Agricultural Education appreciated the research work carried out by different components of Home Science. He suggested to conduct SWOT analysis before carrying out any research project. He insisted that the research output should be in terms of business outcome which will empower the women farmers. He also emphasized for incorporation of recommendations made by QRT and RAC for better research and urged to arrange a brainstorming workshop at ICAR-CIWA to prepare the new road map for forth coming plan period. Dr. U. S. Sharma, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, in his presidential address highlighted the activities carried out by MPUAT, Udaipur, College of Community and Applied Sciences and AICRP on Home Science. He impressed upon the gathering importance of empowering women and lead by example, ensuring that a number of leading positions in the university are headed by women at different capacity. He appreciated the works done by MPUAT, Udaipur under this AICRP on Home Science. All the technical coordinators presented their achievements for last two years and projected their future action plan during the workshop, which was critically reviewed by honourable dignitaries.
Dr. S. K. Srivastava, Director, ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture & Programme Coordinator of AICRP on Home Science addressed the gathering and highlighted the major achievements of the project under five components of Home Science, present staff strength and budget utilization report. Dr. N. S. Rathore, Honourable DDG, Agricultural Education presented the future thrust areas and the way forward for future. He insisted upon convergence of all the components and forming linkages with other organizations for dissemination of technologies developed under AICRP on Home Science.
During the valedictory session Prof Ritu Singhvi, Dean CCAS, Udaipur delivered welcome address. The Rapporteur’s presented reports of various technical sessions. Dr. P. C. Lenka and Dr. P. K. Dehuri, Members of RAC, ICAR-CIWA addressed the gathering and gave necessary inputs for strengthening AICRP on Home Science. Dr S. K. Srivastava, Director, ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar has given valuable remarks for improving visibility of the AICRP on Home Science. The Chief Guest, Dr. N. S. Rathore, Honourable DDG, Agricultural Education in his address motivated the scientists to work hard and conduct solution oriented research to address various issues of stakeholders. At the end of the workshop Dr. Suman Singh, Professor and Head, and the Organising Secretary of this XXIII Biennial Workshop offered vote of thanks.
