Visit of His Excellency Governor of Odisha to ICAR-CIWA Exhibition Pavilion

The ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture (ICAR-CIWA) participated in the Exhibition organized as part of the National Workshop on 'Aquaculture as Livelihood Option for Tribal Farmers of India' at ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar during 18-19 February, 2019. His Excellency Governor of Odisha, Professor Ganeshi Lal visited the CIWA pavilion and showed keen interest in knowing about the technologies for farmwomen, and also about the value added fish products, and advised to strengthen its market linkage.

The ICAR-CIWA exhibition pavilion was put up with the display of posters, specimens, models and literature on gender-friendly technologies. More than 300 tribal farmers 15 states of the country visited the CIWA stall, and were briefed about the research and extension activities of the Institute, its role in women empowerment and its technologies for drudgery reduction in farm and home activities, nutrition and livelihood security. The ICAR-CIWA team of Scientific and Technical Staff, Dr. Tanuja, S., Shri. B. C. Behera and Smt. Usharani Maradana, made the arrangements for showcasing the Institute’s technologies in the Exhibition.

Dr. J. Charles Jeeva, Pr. Scientist also participated and presented a lead paper on CIWA's R&D experiences in mainstreaming tribal farm families.
