Shri Radha Mohan Singh, Union Minister of Agriculture visited ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar

Hon' ble Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare, Govt of India, Shri Radha Mohan Singh laid down the Foundation Stone of ICAR-CIWA Women Trainees' Hostel through E plaque from ICAR-NRRI -Cuttack on 26th February, 2019.

Shri Radha Mohan Singh ji also visited ICAR-CIWA. He interacted with all the staff members of CIWA and encouraged the scientists to bring out some women friendly novel farming technologies. He emphasized that CIWA has a significant role in the upcoming Krishi Unnati Mela in motivating the women farmers of the nation through easy and innovative farming techniques. During his address, he signified that a model of 1-2 acres of Integrated farming with women friendly technologies should be designed at the Institute's farm where the farmers can learn how to manage their locally available resources scientifically. The importance of terrace gardening, urban horticulture, mushroom farming and value addition with special reference to banana fruit and pseudostem processing as successful enterprise for women groups were also highlighted by the Hon' ble Minister.
Dr. S. K. Srivastava, Director, ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar welcomed the Hon' ble Minister and briefed about the mandate, achievements and activities of the Institute and highlighted the role of the CIWA in mainstreaming women farmers to ensure their empowerment.
