Socio-economic Empowerment of Women in Agriculture under Scheduled Castes Sub-Plan (SCSP) and Demonstration of women friendly tools under AICRP on ESA in MGMG village

A “Demonstration of Women Friendly Drudgery Reducing Farm Tools'' was organized for the socio-economic empowerment of women in agriculture under the Scheduled Castes Sub-Plan and AICRP on Ergonomics and safety in Agriculture at Parichanrapada village in Nimapada Block of Puri district on 29th June, 2019.
As the sowing season has approached there is need for dissemination of knowledge regarding women friendly tool and other crop management techniques. This village was adversely affected in the recently occurred cyclone “Fani”. The farm women were introduced to horticultural interventions like round the year vegetable cultivation, scientific management of vegetable crops and off-season vegetable production. They were also imparted knowledge of poultry production and marketing. They were also introduced to women friendly tools for timely and efficient operations to adopt to the vulnerable situations.
Women friendly tool set comprising of sprayer, khurpi, hand hoe, spade, pruner etc (nine tools) were distributed to 16 scheduled caste women beneficiaries. More than 50 farmers participated in the programme.
 The Scientific and Technical Staff from ICAR-CIWA, Dr. Arun Kumar Panda, Er.Chaitrali S. Mhatre, Smt. Ankita Sahu, Shri. Subrat Kumar Das and Er. Pragati Kishore Rout delivered technical talks and attended the queries of the farm families.
