Celebration of Constitution Day on 26th November 2020 at ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar

ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture celebrated the Constitution Day on 26th November 2020. As a part of the programme, the staff of the Institute joined the reading of Preamble to Indian Constitution at 11.00 a.m through the india.gov.in portal. Dr S.K.Srivastava, Director of the Institute led reading of the Preamble at the institute which was attended by staff through virtual mode. An invited online lecture on “KYC- Know Your Constitution: Rights and Duties” was organized at 3.00 p.m for the benefit of the staff of ICAR-CIWA. The meeting started with ICAR song followed by welcome address by Dr Tanuja S, Scientist and Nodal Officer (Constitution Day and Citizens’ Duties Campaign). Dr S. K. Srivastava, Director gave his introductory remarks on the importance of upholding Indian Constitution. The lecture was delivered by Adv. Archana Mishra, State Defense Counsel, Bhubaneswar. The speaker touched upon the history of the Constitution of India. She explained the fundamental rights of an Indian citizen citing examples from everyday life. She emphasized on the importance of fundamental duties of each Indian citizen for the development of the country and for upholding its integrity. She explained about the legal aid system which is in place for helping the poor and needy to get equal justice. The meeting ended with Vote of Thanks by Dr Tanuja S followed by National Anthem. Dr Ananta Sarkar hosted the meeting.
