ICAR-CIWA Observed Women in Agriculture Day on 4 December, 2020

ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture (ICAR-CIWA), Bhubaneswar observed Women in Agriculture Day in Virtual mode on 4 December 2020. The chief guest of the program was Dr. S. K Srivastava, Director ICAR-CIWA. More than 100 women from 20 adopted villages under Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav villages participated in the program in virtual mode.
At the outset importance this Day was discussed among the farm women by the Nodal Officer. Dr. P. Lenka, Member RAC, ICAR-CIWA was the Guest of honour of the function. He encouraged the women to take up various income generating activities in agriculture like mushroom farming, bee keeping vegetable cultivation etc for enhancing the income and achieving economic independence. Dr. S. K. Srivastava, Director, ICAR-CIWA was the Chief Guest. He informed women regarding various women related govt schemes for income generation and encouraged them by giving examples of top10 successful women entrepreneurs in India.
During this occasion Rangoli competitions was organized among the women while celebrating the worship of Goddess Laxmi by offering first harvested rice from their own field. At the end of the programme, the winners of the competition were announced. This programme was coordinated by the Nodal Officer Ms Gayatri Moharana and Co Nodal Officer Er Chaitrali S. Mhatre with the other team members of CIWA Mrs Geeta Saha, Er. Pragati Kishore Rout, Er Subrat K. Das and Mr Bhikari behera.
