Field day on Integrated Disease and Pest management in Sunflower

A Field Day was organized on 5th March 2022 in Jamujodi village of Harichandanpur block of Keonjhar district under the ICAR-CIWA-OIIPCRA project titled “Empowering farm women through climate smart intensification and diversification in minor irrigation command areas of Keonjhar District (Odisha)”. The programme titled “Integrated Disease and Pest management” was organized monitoring of demonstration trials and suggestive technological interventions in fields under Jamujodi MIP command area in Harichandanpur block. The programme was attended by Mrs. Manjulata Nayak, (Agriculture Overseer, Harichandanpur), Sh. Kalindi Pradhan, (Agriculture Overseer, Harichandanpur), Dr. Mihir Mahapatra (Nodal, ADI-OIIPCRA) and Sh. Sanjay Mahapatra, ADO, Ghatgaon, Keonjhar. Fifty farm women having sunflower crop demonstration trials in their field participated in the programme. Dr. Praveen Jakhar, PI (OIIPCRA project) presented an overview on the importance of technological interventions at critical stages of crop. Dr. Mihir Mahapatra highlighted the importance of bio control in pest management. Sh. Sanjay Mahapatra, emphasized on integrated measures for higher sunflower productivity under biotic stress. This was followed by field visit for monitoring of demonstration plots of farm women. Dr. Sachidananda Swain, Co-PI (OIIPCRA project) demonstration the use of different gender friendly tools for pest management. The programme was coordinated Dr. Praveen Jakhar and Dr. Sachidananda Swain. The progress of the ICAR-CIWA-OIIPCRA project for Rabi-2022 was also presented to BAO, Harichandanpur and other department officials.
