Celebration of Agricultural Education Day

ICAR-CIWA celebrated Agricultural education day on 3 December 2024 to commemorate the birth Anniversary of Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of Independent India and the first Union Minister of Agriculture. The event aimed to raise awareness among school children and youth about the vital role of agriculture in the nation's economic and social development. The programme was organized at Government Girls High School, Unit 8, Bhubaneswar. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation of 55 girl students and faculty members. The initiative focused on inspiring young minds to explore agriculture as a promising career option by introducing them to various professional opportunities available in the field. Students were informed about ICAR Institutes and State Agricultural Universities across India that offer comprehensive education in agriculture and allied sciences. The event highlighted modern agricultural trends such as drone technology for precision farming, hydroponic systems for soil-less cultivation, organic farming for sustainable agriculture, and biofloc systems for innovative aquaculture practices. It also emphasized the significance of balanced nutrition and food security, educating the students on the role of millets as "superfoods" and the benefits of nutri-gardens in promoting dietary diversity and health. The students gained valuable insights into the potential of agriculture through discussions and interactions. The programme was successfully organized by Dr. Ankita Sahu, Scientist, and Dr. D.N. Sarangi, Senior Technical Officer from ICAR-CIWA,
